Re: [Cal_Boats] Boat cleaning
I used to own a CS 30 and always looked forward to his posts (he is a CS
36T owner). Excellent photographer with detailed explanations of all his
work. Don't know why he hasn't written a book.

Here's a specific article he did related to buffing and waxing Gelcoat:

Subject: [Cal_Boats] Boat cleaning
Greets:
Sure hope this thread doesn't start a flame war. On my older boats I
did not invest a lot of time cleaning the topsides, decks and cockpit.
Now that i have a really nice boat and would like to keep her for a
while, its time to learn the fine art of boat cleaning and paint
maintenance. I'm fine when it comes to bottom work non issue, however
the rest of the vessel when it comes to cleaning remains somewhat of
mystery. Reading on the Internet is somewhat helpful but everyone has
their favorite products and you know who that goes. So was wondering
what people use to clean and prep their top sides, decks and cockpit.
To give you an idea the boat is a 1978 Cal so the paint is somewhat
faded and the gel coat is getting tired from overuse and lack of
cleaning on my part. Be most interested in learning how to properly
prepare and clean (and further treat) the following areas:
- top side
- decks
- cockpit.
I would like to do this before the snow flies as it will help the
vessel throughout the cold winter storage months.
Best regards and many thanks
