Hi, All. I found this in the Annapolis Yacht Club e-newsletter. Guess she is touring. After all the traffic that flew around on the topic, I thought the list might be interested.
Cheers

Well, Mike, She kinda cute.
Seriously tho, from her interviews, she said the storm had pretty much subsided when she got walloped by a rogue wave. From what I've read, rogue waves can appear out of nowhere, even in calm seas. She also said, crossing the Indian ocean you're likely to hit a storm no matter which season, although granted it was more likely at the time of year she was crossing it.
During the storm Abby was knocked down on her beam, whereas Watson was rolled a couple of times off the Falklands. It's just too bad she wasn't able to get all the loose ends together for her record attempt, but now there's a gal underway who would have beaten it anyway, that Dutch gal.
Meanwhile, I haven't even left the dock single handed in the last few years...am I too old for it? I used to mainly race single handed all the time.

I would love to hear her tell her story. I would cross the bay to hear her,
but not cross the country.
She did something very few have done, making it past a couple of notoriously
nasty capes. A couple of points. Abby's attempt at a non stop sailing
record was over before she got to the Indian Ocean as she had already
stopped. The Dutch girl will not attempt the route that Abby did, she will
take the canals as Abby's brother did earlier.

I see I left out a phrase below, what I meant was, "too bad she didn't get her loose ends together"..preparing the boat and departing without delay as I'm sure she intended, as I'm sure she had planned to leave much earlier than she finally did.
Frankly, I hope this last gal succeeds..the Dutch teenager...but I hope the madness stops after this go around.
