Interesting picture. What is most interesting is that you seem to have enough room to slip in a binnacle support. That is not possible on my boat a 78 3-29. Seems that they must have build these different. I think I'm going to abandon the single stay idea for now and do a cost analysis on ssb vs sat phone. My primary need is for weather data and looking at the energy requirements for ssb and all the other hassles a sat phone may be the way to go. Will post back on this once the assessment is done. If you just want to receive Wx data, things are a lot easier than if you want to transmit. Here is an antenna for Weather Fax that is said to be used by the CG. http://www.landfallnavigation.com/ecr201.html Maybe even XM Sat radio would have a service that would do that.
