Interesting picture.
What is most interesting is that you seem to have enough room to slip in a
binnacle support. That is not possible on my boat a 78 3-29. Seems that they
must have build these different. I think I'm going to abandon the single
stay idea for now and do a cost analysis on ssb vs sat phone. My primary
need is for weather data and looking at the energy requirements for ssb and
all the other hassles a sat phone may be the way to go. Will post back on
this once the assessment is done.

Chris,My wheel is a conversion, originally had a tiller, although the system is Yacht Specialties, like the factory models.Dave D.

If you just want to receive Wx data, things are a lot easier than if you
want to transmit.
Here is an antenna for Weather Fax that is said to be used by the CG.

Maybe even XM Sat radio would have a service that would do that.
