I used sheet teflon to tighten up the rudder tube on my 1976 Cal 25. I epoxied at the top and bottom of the tube strips about 1 1/2" wide. The teflon sheets come in different thicknesses and a a vernier caliper can tell you how much slop there is top and bottom and how thick the teflon strip needs to be once you have the rudder removed. I found the sheet teflon at smallparts.com.

Hi, Craig. I have a coupla CAL 25s in Annapolis. I was wondering where your boat lives. Is she a flat deck or a 2-25? 1976 was the transition year in models.
Cheers

Charlie,
I've lurked here for three years or so and always enjoy your posts. My Cal 25 is a flat deck, hull number 1841. I understand she is one of the last built. She spent some time in Annapolis before going to the North Carolina coast where I found her and dragged her to Keystone Lake near Tulsa, Oklahoma, where she now resides. I've been a sailor since I was sixteen, and that's a lot of years and several sailboats. The Cal 25 fits my needs and desires for a number of reasons. And I love that long cockpit.
