ssb wefax on a budget

Got my first weather fax today. Not really legible however enough data to know its a weather fax. Will work fine once back on the water and connecting the wire antenna to the back stay to extend it. Insulators will not be required. Unit: Grundig G5 Antenna: retractable wire antenna. Software: fldigi alfa version from http://www.w1hkj.com/alpha/fldigi/ (all platforms) So connect the radio to the antenna, connect the radio to the netbook sound card with a simple patch cable to mic in, run the software (read the help files) and at the correct times, weather data on a budget..:) Friends are using the same system while cruising in the Rio Dulce, and work just fine so field testing shows it can be done and is usable. There is other software available I just happen to like fldigi Hay its getting cold here and not on the boat. So you gotta play with something to keep your hands in the game. Best regards -- /ch
