Greets: Im far away from me boat, and working out some issues....was wondering if anyone has the prop shaft dia close at hand for a CAL-29 installed with an A-4. My shaft is bronze but the dia is unknown...looks like around an inch or so from what I remember. -- /ch

ours is stainless steel...(originally it was bronze, was very compromised, we changed it out before we put on the indigo 3blade, then it was still in good shape and we put on the feathering 3 blade max prop) From: chris123 <ch… [at] gmail.com> To: Ca… [at] yahoogroups.com Sent: Tue, December 21, 2010 3:28:02 PM Subject: Re: [Cal_Boats] Cal 29 A-4 prop shaft dia Bronze...? /ch On Tue, Dec 21, 2010 at 6:22 PM, Helen Horn <he… [at] sbcglobal.net> wrote: > > >It is one inch. Did you not like the Indigo 3 blade? I've been thinking about installing one on my Cal 2-27 next til I haul out. We thought we liked it, as it really honks in reverse, but it melts in salt water like no other piece of metal we have ever had on our boat(s). We didn't get around to checking the drag produced by the 10 inch 3 blade but we hauled out after a year to do some rigging and a bottom touch up, we were shocked to see it looked like swiss cheese. We always keep our zincs current, our last prop only came off for the indigo because it was a two-blade and it seemed like a good idea at the time. It had been on for over 4 years of our ownership. I think I've indicated that I suggest an inferior metal from China may be part of the problem with the alloy.
