More Weather
Husar, Charlie [USA]2010-12-24 00:54 UTC
Something has bothered me for long time. Well... many things have bothered me for a long time, but here is one of the minor ones:
Do the pressure systems (highs and lows) push the Jet Stream, or does the Jet Stream push the weather systems? If the Jet Stream pushes the weather systems, what pushes the Jet Stream?
Merry Christmas
Charlie

Here a better explanation as to why your experiencing what you are.
Another contributing factor is the both the temperature and proximity
to the coastline of the gulf stream. So in effect, while
meterologicaly it may be referenced to as sourced from Canada it
really has little to do with national boundaries. No offense taken in
either case,

Mostly the Coriolis effect, I think.

Jet Streams?
Shucks!
I thought it was from all those big jets flying around the globe. The other amazing thing is, it only takes you an hour to fly from the East coast to the West Coast, but when you fly the other way, from West to East or left to right, it takes eight hours, although you do it in less flying time.
It's a puzzlement.
Plus, you'd think there'd be just about as many jets flying in both directions, unless they are taking a short cut to China, through the side of a mountain, like I once did with a Hang Glider at Parker Mountain in the Antelope Valley.
My neck and back still hurt.
Jerry
PS: Arrggh!
On top of that,
The sky is blue-here in Santa Monica- and there is a gentle breeze. It's a perfect day to go sailing.
See you later.

Jerry, I love the flow (is that the right word?) of your thoughts. I just saw a headline that might apply to your selection of topic(s):
"World's Largest Neutrino Detector Completed at South Pole"
Merry Christmas to You!
Cheers
Charlie

Re: [Cal_Boats] Merry Christmas and Happy Boating in the New Year

Hello Cal Boat List,
Just a shout out to everyone to wish you all a very Merry Christmas. Very best
wishes for you and your families to have many wonderful boat trips and/or races
in 2011. Keep those wonderful Cals on the water. As Chris (Kringle) always
says, Time on the water on a sailboat will bring joy to you and yours and help
chase away the day to day blues.
Good Boating in 2011.

do than by the things you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the
safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."
