I would strongly suggest you get the PVC out of the system. My experience with it is that it will crack from vibration. You absolutely do not want PVC below the waterline. The stuff is pretty strong and I use it on my boat for structural things like foot braces but I would not trust my boat to it. The hose I recommended is much more expensive than PVC at something like $10 a foot but. Think of it like an insurance policy. Cheap compared with getting your boat off the bottom.
