Micronet Wireless Instruments - T101 Wind System
flaptaxjn2011-01-19 17:33
Considering the installation of a wireless wind speed and direction instrument for my Cal 29.
Anyone using this device? Would like to have feed back on it's durability and reliability, and also learn of any viable alternatives.
Thanks.

This is the TackTick system, right? We have used the basic system (speed, depth sensors, base station, readout) for three years now on our CC36 and like it a lot. It performs as well as a wired system, and everything has held up so far. We do not have the wind instruments however.

This past summer, I installed the Tacktiicks on my Cal 2-29. I had no insturments. So I am satisfied. I did have a problem with the paddle attachment on the annometer. Tacticks covered it under warranty. They sent the part to me from the UK in 3 days from the time I sent them the serial number.
I think the package I bought was the racers advantage or something at the time. Wind, triducer and compass. I plan to integrate it to a Raymarine autopilot and my Garmin GPS, until I can get a decent chart plotter. Auto should sail off the wind angles.
I haven't picked up the NMEA interface box as of yet.

I have the TackTick Wind, Depth, and Speed. They have worked flawlessly. I
love 'em. But then again, I'm a dealer. When you are ready to buy contact me
off-list.

A question. I'm looking for a wind instrument to integrate with my Raymarine
X-5 autopilot. Any options with this product line?
Best regards and thanks

That's what I'm gonna do. Just need to order the NMEA interface box to link the tacktics, X5 and GPS together.

It's made by Tacktick, and offered by West Marine at $1190, before sales tax. It comes with a 2-year warranty. Thanks for the responses to date.
