mastplate with tabernacle revisited

Hi all, I am planning on running my lines to the cockpit, but am having difficulty deciding on my next move. I bought two plates from garhauer. The pictures attached show a size comparison of the two plates next to the tabernacle. Option 1 is to bolt the smaller plate with six holes to the side of the tabernacle, as in picture SI851334-800. This is the easier route as I already have the hardware and don't have to remove the mast or lift the tabernacle joint off the deck. Concern with this option is the four mounting bolts shearing off in extreme conditions. Option 2 is to return the hardward and find a mast plate that suits the tabernacle better. It will be a bit more work but probably a cleaner solution in the end. The area just aft of the mast is cluttered and the rearward tabs on the deckplate probably won't fit. I would like to go with option 1 if stress isn't a concern... but I can't find that stress without knowing the load induced by the haylards. What kinds of load are we dealing with? Notes...... The bolts holding the tabernacle down are not stainless.. and are rusting, so I would get to replace those if I go with option 2 . And also the boat is a cal28. Thanks all! Adam

Return the plates and send Garhauer a drawing of exactly what you want and they will make it for you. They made me some custom 1 1/4 jib track with all custom hole spacing, a threaded hole, all for $20 a foot. They made me a custom stainless mounting plate for a standup block for $20. In both cases I just sent them a drawing and I got back exactly what I wanted.
