Manufacturer of opening portlights on '78 Cal 34?

Does anyone know the original manufacturer of the forward portlights on a 1978 Cal 34 Mk III? I'm looking to replace the gasket, and maybe a few other parts. Thanks.

you might take some vaseoline and Q tip ... it brought our old gaskets back (1968 & 1974) edward From: reveraterraa <kb… [at] gmail.com> To: Ca… [at] yahoogroups.com Sent: Mon, February 28, 2011 12:47:50 PM Subject: [Cal_Boats] Manufacturer of opening portlights on '78 Cal 34? I've tried that. All the summertime mold and wintertime ice has warped the gaskets beyond repair. --- In Ca… [at] yahoogroups.com, Helen Horn <helenhorn@...> wrote: > > you might take some vaseoline and Q tip ... it brought our old gaskets back > (1968 & 1974) edward > > > > > > ________________________________ > From: reveraterraa <kbablinskas@...> > To: Ca… [at] yahoogroups.com > Sent: Mon, February 28, 2011 12:47:50 PM > Subject: [Cal_Boats] Manufacturer of opening portlights on '78 Cal 34? > > > Does anyone know the original manufacturer of the forward portlights on a 1978 > Cal 34 Mk III? I used silkaflex. Worked like a charm. Can't open it though... Is the gasket material a round (cord stock) shape and looks to be made of neoprene? It's actually a rubbery material with an L-shaped cross section. --- In Ca… [at] yahoogroups.com, Wayne Gillikin <waynegillikin@...> wrote: > > Is the gasket material a round (cord stock) shape and looks to be made of > neoprene? > > > > ________________________________ > From: reveraterraa <kbablinskas@...> > To: Ca… [at] yahoogroups.com > Sent: Mon, February 28, 2011 3:47:50 PM > Subject: [Cal_Boats] Manufacturer of opening portlights on '78 Cal 34? > > > Does anyone know the original manufacturer of the forward portlights on a 1978 > Cal 34 Mk III? The gaskets have a one-inch gap in them because the previous owner cut them too short. Vaseline may be a temporary solution, but I'd like to get new ones to fill that gap. --- In Ca… [at] yahoogroups.com, Helen Horn <helenhorn@...> wrote: > > try VALSOLINE they will "come back" edward 1974 cal ...they are dried out > > > > > > > ________________________________ > From: Wayne Gillikin <waynegillikin@...> > To: Ca… [at] yahoogroups.com > Sent: Mon, March 7, 2011 11:29:06 AM > Subject: Re: [Cal_Boats] Manufacturer of opening portlights on '78 Cal 34? > > > Is the gasket material a round (cord stock) shape and looks to be made of > neoprene? > > > > ________________________________ > From: reveraterraa <kbablinskas@...> > To: Ca… [at] yahoogroups.com > Sent: Mon, February 28, 2011 3:47:50 PM > Subject: [Cal_Boats] Manufacturer of opening portlights on '78 Cal 34? > > > Does anyone know the original manufacturer of the forward portlights on a 1978 > Cal 34 Mk III? You can get a profile probably from the view of the end cut, depending upon where you go for parts, I found a catalog for such rubber moldings which we were seeking for our 29, at the KKMI chandlery a year or so ago in their binders of brochures. maybe WM has the catalogs also, and Svendsen's in Alameda? Are your opening ports metal as in the 29s? Our 36 has white plastic Grey Marine ports.(have to replace completely as they crumble after time). (we tried the vaseline on the metal type with the rubber and it softened them up so well they seal just fine but they were the original and properly cut.) I bet I have the same ports as the Cal 36. There is one in our harbor and I took a peak at it the other day and noticed the same crumbling similarities. In that case, I may just seal the troublesome ports shut and try out the vaseline on the other ones. I plan to replace them next year anyway. Thanks for the help and happy sailing. --- In Ca… [at] yahoogroups.com, Helen Horn <helenhorn@...> wrote: > > You can get a profile probably from the view of the end cut, depending upon > where you go for parts, I found a catalog for such rubber moldings which we were > seeking for our 29, at the KKMI chandlery a year or so ago in their binders of > brochures. maybe WM has the catalogs also, and Svendsen's in Alameda?
