If you have not seen this device check it out, If you have one, can you report if it really works? Very cool idea. Timm, doesn't 26 feet max sound like most of it is in the cockpit length or bow length, plus the distance to the pump piece, and then what, through a hole (eek) in something to get it into the bilge, by then the last 15 (max) feet will be threaded through more holes, and create a lift as well, not clearly addressed by the ad?? I also would want a secondary parallel on the mooring as the stitching on that tether (or glue?) could be a weak spot. It might work on a dinghy under tow? Just my opinion, it looks like a toy right now, maybe R & D could improve it. It relies on regular frequent surges that may not be at some moorings or in some conditions. A solar charger to a battery to bilge pump would be more consistent and almost as green.(and cost less?). It's such a simple mechanism I don't see how it couldn't work as long as that line is the one that gets tensioned. Neat idea! I hope the inventor makes enough to keep his boat in good shape. Mike M. I like the simplicity as well, however restricting your bilge pump output capacity to wave action along sounds kinda dangerous to me. I would prefer to have the bilge pump electrified and perhaps this system for 69.00 as a backup. I would not trust my boats bilge to this device alone. /ch On Fri, Apr 15, 2011 at 2:32 PM, mike <mi… [at] wahini.org> wrote: > > > It's such a simple mechanism I don't see how it couldn't work as long as > that line is the one that gets tensioned. my friend uses a wave pump in his wooden boat in south west harbor maine, works very well once the seams have swelled up after launch. He hangs it off the stern and adjusts the height so the float is in mid stroke so any movement of wave or boat works the pump. drew new haven ct http://www.securefixdirect.com/wave-pump-1122-p.asp To: Ca… [at] yahoogroups.com From: ti… [at] ch2m.com Date: Fri, 15 Apr 2011 11:26:42 -0600 Subject: [Cal_Boats] New Bilge Pump uses Wave Energy If you have not seen this device check it out, If you have one, can you report if it really works?
