Dear Calisters - does the Cal 27 (not T-27) have the dreaded steel beam?
Are there any major points of comparison with the 29? What are the things
to look for in a survey?
Regards - Nick

Nick,
I have a 1979 Cal 2-27. It does not have a steel beam.
Looking back on buying Magic, I would have to say that the deck-to-hull joint leaks have been the biggest pain in the butt for me. I knew what I was getting into when I bought her, so lots of other things I have rebuilt or replaced have not been a sore thumb.
When I bought Magic, I found several old surveys from PO's. Reading them was disappointing, as they were little more than descriptions of the boat with little useful information regarding the condition of the systems. Perhaps they were merely done for obtaining insurance. I don't know.
Regards,
Michael

neither the 27 poptop nor the T/2 have the beam. Cannot comment on 2-27 or
3-27

Welcome Rich
What year and flavor is your 27?
I have the 72 T2, we are getting ready to do a bottom job on her.
Enjoy.
