I agree. I have had success with a "hip tow". Using my 3 hp merc to get a 42' Hinkley back to his slip. Tie the front of the dingy just behind the widest part of the boat. A stern line from the dingy helps "pull" the back of the boat. Maneuvering by steering the big boat.
