RE: [Cal_Boats] Suggestions: Anti foul protection for prop and shaft

I have been using the pettit zinc coat barrier (1792) for 2 years and have had great success in the chesapeake.
Added bonus...I called Pettit yesterday and they confirmed that it is the same formula as the pettit transducer paint (1793) and can be used safely on transducers and knot meters as well.

I too keep my boat on LIS (Western end) and have battled the barnacle for many years. I tried bottom paint (hard and ablative) with no real success. For the past several years I have used Anhydrous Lanolin on the prop and shaft. It lasts for a good portion of the season and does a good job. The little buggers can't get a foothold on the lanolin. But it wares off and I need a bottom cleaning by August.
This year I am trying Pettit Zinc Coat Barnacle Barrier. I'll let you know how it works.

that's great info. I bought a can of both this season and I thought they looked
more than coincidentally similar. I'll use them interchangeably. Thanks.

Well, Wayne, they are not quite the same. One makes your hair fall out while you are painting it on, and the other makes you sterile. A seemingly minor difference I must admit, but chacun à son goût.
Cheers

My hair has all fallen out so I must have made the right choice.

No barnacles, no barber, no b*ner, no problem.
