Thanks to all for the great response, I didn't like the stay removal idea either. I took Bob Connell's advice and rigged up the boom and halyard and pulled it successfully yesterday! Bob- I would still like to see the pictures you offered, to see how it compares. It went real smooth though (something I almost never say about boat work!) I have pulled a Perkins 4-106 on halliard supported on the boom! We also pulled a big fuc--- trans too! in Tortola, same way. Use you experience! Don't let anyone tell you it's impossible.
