Cool houseboat
A couple weeks ago, a cool little owner-built houseboat showed up at the marina where my other boat lives, just down the dock. I've added a couple photos of it, under the heading "cool houseboat." Over on Lake Huron's Saginaw Bay, on the Saginaw River, there are a lot of fiberglass powerboats. They mostly serve as summer residences. They'll power down the river, roar out into the Bay and roar back, and then sit idle as eating and drinking platforms. This little houseboat really meets the residential needs better than the baroque fiberglass palaces, was probably a lot cheaper, and if operated at displacement speeds, is probably cheaper to operate under power.
There's a VHF-FM marine antenna on the starboard side, but up on the roof there's a home-built little UHF TV antenna too. I've been looking to run into the owner and get some details about the project.
Just guessing, but since this boat lies in the home city of WEST System epoxies, I'll bet it's made from their goo.
