Fw: Deception Pays Off

I talked to Barry Fisher after the County Meeting debacle. He said he was against the new development. That he was included in the pro-development group was a fraud. The only pro development people were the developers and their employees. And, the owner of the fuel dock, who expects to make big bucks fueling the mega yachts. Unfortunately for him, the mega yachts almost never leave their docks, being mainly eye candy for their owners egos, and dockside condos. About Commodore Lumien, I don't know. Maybe he needs a good psychiatrist. Or even better, a shrink. I know some Kayapo Indians on the Black River of the Amazon that could do a good job of it. But first, they need to treat our Supervisors and straighten them out; that and twenty years in a Federal Penitentiary. We need to do a petition and make a citizen's arrest of Mr. Kanabe, for his blatant fraud and griffting. It is evident that Marina del Rey was sold to the people as a small craft park, but was turned into a yacht harbor and luxury housing development thru fraud. Jerry, It's always about money. The Chicago Park District is building a new 1000 slip marina, scheduled to open for the 2012 season. They will charge premium rates for this place and God help you if you're on the end of one of the docks, it's a long walk. By the way, mismanaged by Westrec Marinas. If they even fill half the slips I'll be surprised. No yacht club there, concessions TBD. We have open slips in our harbor this year for the first time. The golden goose is getting constipation in Chicago. Then it was purchased by new owners who thought the low rental rates were an affront to their ownership. Up went the rent; down (to almost zero) went the occupancy rates. The marina there (much closer to the river mouth than the ghost marina) where my other boat lives has empty slips this year. That has been rare. They've pretty much held the line on prices and have improved minor amenities. Of course, I get a bit nervous when the marina gets too pretty; it suggests that the idea is to sit around on your boat in the marina instead of using it. Last night after a really fun sail on the Cal 20, I counted 28 masts in our little mooring field. Last year there were 38. Several of the mooring buoys are not out, just little floats marking the chain's location. . On the bright side, this must be an ideal time for the person who's willing to invest sweat equity in acquiring and fixing up a neglected sailboat. > The golden goose is getting constipation in Chicago. > David Dobbs, CAL29 411 > > > --- On *Tue, 7/12/11, Gerald Sobel /<so… [at] yahoo.com>/* wrote: > > > From: Gerald Sobel <so… [at] yahoo.com> > Subject: [Cal_Boats] Fw: Deception Pays Off > To: "Venture MacGregor Fleet" <md… [at] yahoogroups.com> > Cc: "Ca… [at] yahoogroups.com" <Ca… [at] yahoogroups.com> > Date: Tuesday, July 12, 2011, 2:16 PM > > I talked to Barry Fisher after the County Meeting debacle. > He said he was against the new development.
