So many spend a lot on go fast trick gadgets when a really good bottom will give better results. I clean my bottom no more than 3 days before a race. Last year at the StFYC Big Boat series the top TP52's were sailed without bottom paint and were wiped down each day by a diver. I can tell on my Santa Cruz 27 if it has been more that 5 days since cleaning. The slime even in salt water will rebuild enough to slow especially in very light air. It is so satisfying to beat a competitor by a comfortable margin who has beaten you before! Yeah, almost makes me want to cancel my order for a new string sail LOL. We're gonna be scary fast when that thing is finished. Boat speed certainly helps erase a lot of my tactical mistakes ;-) Paul
