Speedo Impeller Needed / Bottom Job
pw… [at] aol.com2011-07-29 15:37 UTC
Anyone out there have an old speedo transducer they don't need anymore?
Actually all I need is the impeller or paddle wheel (whatever the technical
name for it is) and the axle it spins on. Mine disentegrated apparently. The
yard told me it had no blades on it when I pulled out last week and while I
glanced at it, I never had the opportunity to pull it out and look at it
but am on my way to do so now.
It is a Navman instrument but I don't know that it matters that much as
they all seem to be the same (that I've seen anyway).
FYI for those who saw my post last week about the increase in boat speed
after sanding and painting and the ability to catch and pass a Tarten 10 in
light air who had a 40 second head start . . . well with one week of growth on
the bottom, which I literally could not see, we were not able to keep up
with him and he finished about 2 min ahead of us. That said, last week's race
literally had one tack at the finish and only 2 marks to round as we
thought the wind would die out and the course was all reaches. This week, there
were many tacks and we just can't accelerate like he can in light air nor can
we complete our tacks as fast as he has a male crew and a fractional jib
whereas we have a female crew and a giant masthead rig.
Thanks -

I race against T-10s. I can tell by the wind conditions if I will pass them
or not. They are impossible to pass in light air. I feel your pain.
