Annapolis Power Status
Husar, Charlie [USA] (ASE)2011-09-01 15:53 UTC
The red and orange dots have gone away, but note areas of Annapolis are still hurting.
Reggie, I don't know if this will affect you.

Charlie,
The Navy must have some old brass oil lanterns somewhere that they salvaged off the frigates and sloops of war. Send the middies out to find them and you'll be in great shape. Who needs power when you've got wind?

Jerry, the Mids traded in their oil lamps for iPads. Wind has been light, enough to get a sailboat moving a bit, but not enough to keep a refrigerator cold. Thank God it has not been super hot out.
By the by, I saw an article that 3 US companies (one in CA), that are (were) into solar energy, have gone bankrupt.

Charlie, I read the same article. I could have used that half billion to go bankrupt wit', and I'd have done a good job doing that. My business is hanging on by broken fingernails. Business was soooo much better when Jimmy Carter was our president, and people were going 55 mph as I still do now. I did go 70++ mph with that rental car I took to Choo Mash casino, on the way back with my winnings, at 2AM after the %$#@ traffic had cleared off the freeway. Amazing, it got as good a mileage as my motorcycle, about 35+MPG. It was cheeper to rent a new car and drive it there and back, about 270 miles, than if I'd gone in my work truck, which my girlfriend refused to ride in. Of course, if we'd on in my sailboat, it would have been cheaper, but how would I have portage'd it up the mountain to Santa Ynez valley now that they took out the canal? (what canal you say?). The Morris canal. When I lived in New Jersey I didn't even know it existed. The railroads done
them in. What railroads? I guess their gone too. Amazing what you can find out surfing the internet. I found out what that canal below my dormitory was along side the Raritan River. It went all the way to Trenton, and now it's a state park. Nice place for the deer and the Mountain Lions to roam, and find their way over to Jersey City, and by bridges and tunnels late at night, or a short swim, to Central Park. One can only hope.

Thanks Charlie,
Getting back to the sailing vein, we have some huge rollers coming in from a perfect storm off New Zealand. It's written up in the Lattitude 38 on the web today; the waves were so big it was swamping harbor entrances, and there was an advisory about dangerous mooring conditions at Avalon in Catalina. So, where am I going this weekend? Out of the breakwater and down the coastline to Alamitos Bay for the annual "Outlaw Regatta" hosted by Santa Monica Windjammer's Y.C. and Seal Beach Y.C. Then, it's off to Catalina to anchor off the North East side either in Twin Harbors or a semi vacant cove. Maybe the waves will scare some of the Yahoos from doing the crossing so they'll be more room for Shpritz, or, everyone will be thinking likewise, and go anyway. We'll see.

Charlie,
The Navy must have some old brass oil lanterns somewhere that they salvaged off the frigates and sloops of war. Send the middies out to find them and you'll be in great shape. Who needs power when you've got wind?

The red and orange dots have gone away, but note areas of Annapolis are still hurting.
Reggie, I don't know if this will affect you.
