I have a 3 blade prop on my 29. I don't know the pitch and guess the size is around 12". It performs very good. I have good control in forward and use the prop walk to my advantage when backing down. I would find it difficult though to back to starboard. It is a rt hand drive and goes back to port and hard over straight back then slowly, slowly to starboard.

Hey Chris,
I have Michegan mp3 three blade 12" prop, pitch is 8, Performance is
good - easy 6kts at 3k rpm - although it suffers badly with any
fouling on the prop.
Having said all that if I was redoing I'd probably go for a sailor 3
(less ear) or 7 pitch or 11" as tbh in its current guise it's probably
a little too much.

Chris, we once used a 3-blade indigo prop with the specified pitch straight from the store, it was great for digging right in, reverse and forward, but when we went to feathering, we greatly appreciated not having the drag of a fixed prop. But the 3blade was way better than the 2 blade we changed out. Helen

What the engine and max horsepower your are running? Im looking at a
Campbell sailor prop to match an older 2M15 Yanmar. The spec that came back
with that engine and power curve matched the 29 was 12x10 on a one inch
shaft. Now the profile is a different design then on Michigan Wheel. The
other one I found is a stock catalina replacement option.

This is not for me, but for a friend. Im just doing the leg work as usual.
Much to learn but its a fun exercise.

I'm running a 13x13 RH 3-blade behind a Yanmar 2GM14 on our '77 2-29. It's not as "fast" as the 2-blade behind the old Farymann was, but lots of torque. Heavy propwalk to port in reverse that took a little bit of getting used to. Cost was around $800 from Wilmington Prop in SoCal, but I did get a cool t-shirt with it....

HI John
Surprised you can fit a 13" prop on that boat. Do you have enough
clearance between the prop and the hull?
Best regards
