Guys, I got to thinking about it, and it wasn't Yossarian in "Catch 22", but Billy Pilgrim in "Slaughterhouse Five" who said that. But I could hear Yossarian saying it. Hell, I probably said it myself from 1961 to 1965, before I had read either one. I was a fortunate GI, served stateside but know lots who went to Viet Nam. Luck of the draw sometimes, but my AFSC limited me to 5 bases in the US. My service was probably the most important time in my life. I have never done anything since that was as important, or mattered as much. Those serving today are going through that also, some in peril of their lives.
