Re: [Cal_Boats] 1977 Cal 34 Mark III interior Question
As far as I know, the bulkheads (walls) of all CALs of that era were teak
(plywood?), the ceilings were probably covered (where exposed, the
pictures show most of the area covered by cabinetry) with some type of a
foam-backed vinyl material, glued in place. As another CAL owner
mentioned, be glad that the previous owner ripped that out, removal is
messy! On our CAL 21 the ceiling area was smooth fiberglass that had been
painted at the factory, on a 34 I would probably either do that (might
need to apply an epoxy surfacing filler first to fill in the texture of
the fiberglass on the inside of the hull) or if you want to get fancy,
some thin cedar strips look real nice! I have the 1977 brochure and will
scan the images and send them direct to you. Unfortunately, it really
doesn't show the ceiling, but the aft bulkheads are visible.

Aha, me marine drill instructor at Pensacola would have us say, "overhead
and bulkheads". Them other terms are strictly for, as he called them,
"sand crabs".
Congratulations to yea on taking such a fine prize, matie!

Subject: [Cal_Boats] 1977 Cal 34 Mark III interior Question
I have just aquired a 1977 Cal Mark III. The owner before me stripped out
the ceiling and walls. He must have tossed it all. I need to replace
items and was wondering what type of fabrics to use. Also does anyone
have any pics of their interiou they would like to share.
