prop pitch follow up
am… [at] stuffandjunk.net2011-12-31 11:58 UTC
As a follow up to an earlier message, I did contact PYI, Inc. to try
to find out what the pitch should be on my Maxprop, with the new
electric engine thrown in. They came back with my original
measurements: 13 x 12, which were causing the cavitation and
vibration. When I mentioned this, they said I'd have to experiment,
which I had been doing.
Ah well!

I realize that I have asked before about engine alignment but I thought I
would ask a follow up question. Did you do the alignment with the boat in
the water? Did you check it again after running the engine for some time?
I understand that my engine is different from yours but the manual for a
Gray Marine engine has the procedure for aligning an engine on page 16 and
a number of prop size/pitch recommendations for various engines and boats
on page 74 (last page). Perhaps you can fine one that approximates your HP
on the list.
The manual takes several seconds to load but in case you find it useful it
is HERE <http://l-36.com/gray_marine.php>
