Cal 20's

I just saw the post of the 3 guys from Texas who put a cal 20 together and decided to a few pics and memories. I spent 4 weeks on one of my Cal20's during the winter of 2010 sailing Lower Biscayne Bay, Florida Bay and the Keys. I had a wonderful time getting used to sailing with 6" under the keel. The boat was
very comfortable, stable and great fun to sail. I fell so much in love with her that I found a bone yard boat for free, dragged her home in a snow storm and have started to restore her.
Here are some pics. The in-the-water pics are of Little Emma in Florida Bay and sailing on Northport Bay, Michigan. The others are of Lone Gull.

God bless you! I have restored 7 Cal 20's in the last 3 years. At age 66 I have now finished my last boat. It's more fun to sail than to grind!
My Best, Mike Farrell
Happy Hollidays!

What everybody else needs to know is that about a decade ago when I
announced that I was on my way to look at a Cal 20, Kevin's advice was
"buy it." And I did. And most of you know that I fell in love with Cal
20 #1220 in short order.
These really are remarkable little boats--sweet sailing, durable,
adaptable.
It's always great news to read about one more Cal 20 being rescued from
the chain saw death.
