Boat Business

I am a former owner of a CS 30 and still lurk on that weblist. One guy was thinking of selling his CS 30 due to the cost of truck transport from Austin, TX to Seattle. Well everyone was chiming in to tell him to keep it because it was such a good boat and the market sucks. The guy below was a rigger at the CS plant. I wish business could be done like this again. Paul Charlie, It amazes me somewhat that after all these years there are still good things to say about CS boats. It makes feel very proud to have been part of the CS operation. About five years ago I was standing alone with Paul Tennyson looking at the CS molds sitting outside in Whitby Ont. We both agreed that that it was now too late to revive the CS operation. I remember telling him how happy people were in this group with the quality of his boats and how he should be very proud of the great boats that he built. I know he made lots of money with the volume that his company produced but I wanted to pass on to him how proud I was too as being part of the CS operation considering I had worked for most of the major builders in Canada at some time or another. At CS we never had someone going around telling us to cut corners to save money. If you wanted to use your experience to improve on a boat all you had to do was run it by Paul and it got approved even if it did cost a few bucks more. I considered CS a great place to work and got great satisfaction every day I was there and have great memories of my days inside the CS Plant. There are others from the CS era that also feel the same way as I do.. Thanks everyone for your thoughts. Wilson Wilson Yates Yates Custom Rigging Box 111 Cottrell`s Cove, NL. Canada A0H 1L0

Two manufactures that are Canadian still demand a very high price, CS and Bayfield. Takes a while to sell them but you dont see any price drops here in Canada. Still premium dollar boats. Now in the States its a different story. Hence some buy them in the States and import them into Canada but that market has died as well as sales are very slow, typically a year or two. Prices are still very high however for these two manufacturers. From what I heard from others both shops were great places to work. What ended up killing them both is monitary fluctuations on the currency and then the increased price of manufacturing being petro based products to a large extend. While Bayfield stuck to specific models to survive, CS started bring out all kinds of models to capture/retain market share. It was big news when they went down as, if I am not mistaken they were the last CDN builder at the time. I could be wrong on that...:) /ch On Fri, Jan 6, 2012 at 10:27 AM, <pw… [at] aol.com> wrote: > ** > > > I am a former owner of a CS 30 and still lurk on that weblist. >
