foredeck hatch replacement

Gentleman, The foredeck hatch on my cal 28 is showing it's years. The solid fiberglass hatch is cracking around its starboard hinge. I could simply repair the area.... but this sounds like a good excuse to spend entirely too much money, not discounting the fact that latch is buggard and dogging down the hatch could be quite a challenge. The opening is 24" by 24". Price is a consideration but not as important as a quality product that I will have confidence in the open ocean with. I'm looking for a quality I have ruled out gebo and probably lewmar. I have heard good things about goiot hatches but can not find a source or price. Atkins Hoyle are also on the list but quite expensive (thank god, only one hatch!) If anyone has a link to a decent write up on a hatch replacement that would be helpful as well.
