I am a gloss person myself. Strippped the 29 quarter berths uppers to the glass last season and applied interlux brightsides white gloss. Love the look. The lower is a fabric.

Christine, it probably would work, but why remove the paint? I spent weeks trying to remove paint from my mast, and when I foolishly left the residue of ospho a phosphoric acid treatment on may aluminum, before I painted it over with some rustoleum latex acrylic primer, the paint bubbled up from corrosion. Maybe you want to just sand it a bit and apply a light coat of paint over it.
Then does heating alumiminum enuff to burn off the paint affect its temper? Does the alumiminum go mad? I guess heating it enuff to soften the paint is maybe ok, but being aluminimum, it's going to conduct the heat like crazy. I think. Maybe, I don't think. Are you trying to remove all the paint to save weight aloft so your boat goes faster?
I'll have to drill big oblong lightening holes in my fast I mean, mast, to keep up with you. Ok, so you don't leave me even further behind.
