The teak and holly main cabin decking delaminated in my 1987 33-2 and I am
in the process of replaceing it. A bit of effort was necessary to remove
the old plywood that had been glued down but each section did come off in one
piece so it can be used as a pattern.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what would be the best adhesive to use
on the new teak and holly plywood? Something with a bit of give seems
better than a hard glue seeing all of the preasure is downward and the pieces
fit very tightly together.
Also what has been peoples experience with the finish on plywood in the
main cabin? Varnish seems a bit soft. Is there any reason not to use
something quite hard such as a polyeurothanes that is used in houses? The original
plywood was varnished on only one side and the delamination was from the
bottom which was not treated. Would sealing both sides cause some type of
expansion/contraction problem?
Thanks for the help.

Jim - If and when I replace my sole I am thinking I will use fasteners that
will allow me to remove every piece with a twist of a screwdriver or maybe
by hand. I may change my mind when I see the price of them but I was on a
boat once that had these out of necessity since there was a lot of tankage
etc in the bilge and thought that would be a nice upgrade to my boat just
for ease of access and possible storage.
