Keep sending your emails our pressure will get attention. MDR is just one of many harbors that may experience inappropriate land use development. Take time to read the attachment. I have forwarded the letter that was sent to the USACE South Pacific Division Commander. Please feel free to provide your comments to him or his 2nd in command (Col. Nelson). Thanks again, Jon Nahhas Attachment: The Boating Coalition's Response From: Jon Nahhas [mailto:jn… [at] gmail.com] Sent: Wednesday, March 28, 2012 4:45 PM To: mi… [at] usace.army.mil Cc: an… [at] usace.army.mil; el… [at] mail.house.gov; Ja… [at] mail.house.gov; 'Leslie Dutton' Subject: Corps Permits for "Marina del Rey Project" PO Box 11131 Marina del Rey, CA 90295 (424) 256-3600 General Michael C. Wehr, Commander U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, South Pacific Division Dear General Wehr, The Army Corps of Engineers Regulatory Division in Los Angeles is currently reviewing a series of projects in Marina del Rey, CA. These projects have serious cumulative impacts to public access and contradicts the original intended use set forth by a written Act of Congress, HD 389. The overall project, which began in 1954, was one of the Corps' major accomplishments in the United States and, in fact, created the largest man-made small craft harbor in the world. I would like to ask for your full attention on these projects and this redevelopment off the coast of Los Angeles. The public process has been subverted at the local and state levels and our hope lies in the leadership and professional practices established in your division. Having also grown up in a military family, I was able to observe exceptional management in military bases throughout the U.S. and in Japan. We are confident that the Corps' commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainability in the Los Angeles area will result in the best project for our community. Please contact me at (424) 256-3600 or bo… [at] gmail.com if you have any questions. Sincerely, Jon Nahhas The Boating Coalition CC: Congresswoman Janice Hahn's Staff Representing the 36th District in CA. Somebody took a lot of time to put together a good statement. Chris Campbell
