How'd you guys place? How high did the winds get? Everybody is reefed
and look to still be dumping wind out of their mains to stay on their feet.

All,
Here are some photos of Magic from last weekend. It was a lot of fun...
45 miles through Biscayne Bay.

Two boats dismasted. :(
I heard, but not confirmed, that one was a Cal 29. The other was a Morgan
40 something that we passed. It's rig snapped off just above the
spreaders.

Paul,
We will find out our finish position on Saturday during the awards party at the Miami Yacht Club. A lot of boats DNS'd, some DNF'd. We had seven boats in our class, but I only saw two others finish, and they both have lower ratings and came in behind us. This race does not use class flags, so right now I really have no idea. Last year we took first place in our class. I hope that we were able to defend our place this year.
We don't have an anemometer on Magic, so this is only speculation and second hand information from other boats.... I was told that winds rarely went below 25 apparent, with gusts near 40 kts. Fortunately, we were on Biscayne Bay and into the southern sounds south behind islands that prevent fetch. We flew our 110 and reefed/unreefed the main four or five times. At one point, we had the asymmetrical spinnaker on deck and rigged, but we never had a good angle to fly it, and cooler heads prevailed.
