CAL 2-25 Rubrail
muntasel2012-02-24 23:01
Hello everyone,
I am new to this forum and brand new owner of a 1978 CA 2-25.
Among few other jobs she needs before springtime replacing the rubrail is definetely one of them.
Anyone had any luck finding a replacing rubrail that match or cold fit like The original?
Thank You
Marco

Hi, Marco. Welcome. Good list group here. I am very familiar with CAL 25s, but so much with the 2-25. We recently had a thread on the topic, and can send you info on the part and the install if your boat's part matches the older flat deck 25. For the others on the list, Steve Seals does not list the 2-25 as a fit for his parts. Does anyone know if there is a match?
Marco, where are you located? This could determine where you buy the rubrail. There are several sources.
Cheers
Charlie

Marco, got some friends in Richmond who crew for me periodically in Annapolis. One of them owns a CAL 34, I believe.
Is your rubrail a white(ish) rubber/vinyl that inserts over a lip at the deck/hull joint? I don't know where to find a CAL 2-25 to check what it is. I pu;;ed down some 2-25 photos from the web, but I cannot tell about the rub rail. It does appear it may be different from the older 25.
Easiest contact is D&R Marine - Rudy Nickerson in Massachusetts.

Charlie you are awesome i really appreciate the follow up.
I will give it a try with D&R.
In the meanwhile since i couldn't figure out how to attach pictures i opened an album in the photo section of this group. It's called 1978 CAL 2-25 (Dragon Lady) I have only one picture of the rubrail section (or what is left of it) if you want to take a look you might be able to tell me if it is the same as the CAL 25.
Thank You again!

Marco, if you knew be better, your statements would be more guarded. From your photo, the rubrail for the 2-25 is definitely different from the design on most CALs. See what Rudy at D&R can do for you. If he can't help, there are several other places to try. Typically farther away.

The 2-25 apparently has a totally different rub rail. Not the “rubber” part. I do not believe Steve has them. I’m trying to remember the name of a supplier who makes all kinds of metal and wood parts for boats. I last saw it at a boat parts shop. 4 letters? Starts with A?
Take Care

It was 4 letters, but did not start with “A”. Taco Metals. There are a bunch of cross sections in this catalog. Hope this helps. File is kind of fat.

Yes i tried seal's and spars and did not find it on the website I called and left a message anyway but haven't got a response yet.
I just checked Taco Metal and seems they have one that can fit i will ask for a sample and hopefully it'll work, I'll post the outcome hopefully soon.
Thanks guys!
