Very little on the newer boats is "CAL-Specific", so most of it will be "off-the-shelf" parts. However, some parts may be available from D&R Marine in Assonet. MA www.drmarine.com. The real problem is that after CAL/O'DAY went out of business in 1989, a group of investors bought some of the CAL molds, including the molds of the 22 and all the custom parts and drawings. George Crowell was the prime mover behind "Little Compton Yachts", and advertised that he was going to get the CALs back into production. I think he was going to build the 22 and the 33 (the 28 and possibly the 39 molds and tooling were bought by Pearson Yachts when they purchased the remnants of CAL/O'DAY), however I don't think that any new 22s were ever built after 1988-89, and several people lost deposits paid on boats and replacement parts (one customer had ordered a new mast, never did get it!). So, the drawings and specs for CAL 22 parts would seem to be gone, but as I say.. most parts would be "off-the-shelf" and what isn't could be reproduced easily by a good fabricator. Many fittings and such were interchangeable with the similar size O'DAYs (like the 222) since the boats were built in the same factory. Rig-Rite in Warwick, RI is a source for the spars and rigging parts, but there may be others. Sails would still be available from any good sailmaker, and if not... new sails can be made using the old ones as patterns. Rudy at D&R Marine was the parts Dept. manager at CAL/O'DAY when the CAL 22 was built and so may have ideas for finding replacement parts. Now, after saying all that......(hope I didn't scare you!) would I buy a 1986 CAL 22 if I had the chance.....if she was in reasonably good shape....? I think I would!! They were a fine boat, and as long as nothing "major" needs to be replaced (like the keel)..... I wouldn't worry too much about finding replacement parts, many of the original suppliers are still around or else another company has picked up where the original supplier may have ended. You wouldn't be doing what a car enthusiast would call a "numbers matching restoration", so if the new part was slightly different... it would not diminish the value of the boat. It is a fresh water boat and appears to be in very good condition, well maintained. I am curious though what if any types of problems I may encounter buying an 86 Cal if I need a replacement parts for it down the road? Or is it such that most of the parts can be replaced with non original equipment? Looks like a great boat but just thinking ahead when and if I need to replace something. any input greatly appreciated... thanks, Don 53 Year Old Mom Looks 33 The Stunning Results of Her Wrinkle Trick Has Botox Doctors Worried http://thirdpartyoffers.juno.com/TGL3141/4fa358d945636fb59b7st05duc
