Beta Connection

James2012-05-09 21:20
...whew...there is experience. I sat down on the boat wondering if I ordered the right propeller, etc. before I calmed down....then I was accepting of things now that as I single-hand quite a bit, I'm on the other side of the pedestal looking back quite a bit of the time...as I work the winches. It's all in the mind. I have to say, that beta is a very nice little engine. I was trying to tell my girlfriend how it was that I can just go down to the boat just to start it and watch it rotate. What a job, however, replacing the engine and all that goes with it. Thanks all for the feedback and good solutions.

Looking at the photo that I sent as an attachment, I also remembered that I lengthened the shaft of the bellcrank by using a longer bolt and a barrel nut -- this to offset the bellcrack farther from the engine to clear .... something ..... ??? Like pretty much all of the Cal Brethren on this great list, you're a bright and resourceful sailor, James. You can figure out the little stuff from there. I think I have a few photos that show how I masked off the throttle body and marked and dremeled the trottle arm to clear that screw-head if you need the inspiration. If you need more photo or text documentation, hit me again. Wilkie On May 9, 2012, at 2:20 PM, James wrote: ...whew...there is experience. Mike, is the third time a charm? Maybe I shouldn't complain about having a work-a-holic girlfriend, she lets me do all the sailing I wanna. Yeah-yah. Yea Jerry, I can't go thru this again! Divorce 1 got my first SC27 Phyllis Swift. Girlfriend got Moore 24 Spitfire, Wife 2 got Cal 20 Calafia. Divorce Barbie---comes with her gear and all of Ken's stuff too! Will do the Substitute Singlehanded Farallons race now called Stand down Marathon this Sat. 0925 start at GGYC out to Pt. Bonita then to San Mateo Bridge and back to GGYC. Times out 0300 dark on Sunday am for singlehanders only. About 40 boats now entered. I tell my wife I love her, she says "you love your(notice she doesn't say OUR) boat more than me" I tell her it's cheaper than golf and I'm not hanging out in a bar or casino with some dirty girl. She made me stop sailing with female crew so now it's just me or one of my male buddies. Happy MothersDay! Jerry: Sometimes I feel guilty. Spousal unit #2 loves sailing and our boat as much as I do! It is "our" boat. I know it would be the one thing we argue over more in a divorce than anything else so I will stay married this time. Too much money and blood in this boat referb. And I am the envy of our guys in our yacht club because I always have crew. I just wish she's learn to cook. :-) Danny --- In Ca… [at] yahoogroups.com, mike farrell <vectormenow@...> wrote: > > Yea Jerry, I can't go thru this again! Divorce 1 got my first <SNIP>>

Learning how to cook was one of things on my 'list' before I start cruising (I don't think there are too many Subways or In and Outs on the water). My girlfriend told me that I can't be good at everything and need to save something for her. Fine by me. She's taken that project on and she's kept me happily fed! :) On Thu, May 10, 2012 at 7:13 AM, Danny <sa… [at] gmail.com> wrote: > ** > > > Jerry: > > Sometimes I feel guilty.
