Cal 30 - Thanks to all
Greetings Cal Boaters,,,, I want to thank all that responded to my inquiry and thoughts on this Cal 30. All comments in my opinion were very valid and true, and the wisdom on this site prevails once again. I enjoyed reading about all the great things that this boat achieved, and about the skippers and families that enjoyed them. That is why I appreciate being a part of this group. I will take and ponder everyone's opinion in deciding what to do. I just hate to see a great boat succumb un-necessarily to mother nature and die an ugly death. The boat is resting in the Genesee River, and river that oozes silt that mother nature put here. Once I get Kool Beans splashed, I will motor up the river and seek her out. The water is high, but I can find her. I will take some pics of her and post it for all to see. As the lake level progressively lowers, more of the boat will be exposed. I have to be honest, I don't know what Cal model she is. This could be a project for the tv show American Restoration, and possibly make an incredible story. I think that is to far fetched, even in my crazy mind. If the decision is to leaver her alone,,,, I will motor up the river in Kool Beans, toss a wreath on the boat in memory of Mr. Lapworth, other past Cal boaters, and all the sailors who perished while enjoying their dream while sharing their wisdom to the next generation of sailors. It continues to make me appreciate what I have...... Thanks,,,, Jim Ives - Kool BeansRochester, NY
