RE: [Cal_Boats] 27 poptop (Dave)
Yep…I believe you once described Windjammer as “Hardscrabble”. It is for sure but I can get there as early as I care to and stay as long as I can stand to… They are not efficient but there is much to be said for slow and deliberate.
The mechanic has my Merc ready and I’m down to just cosmetics, cleaning, and bottom paint. I had a big list of to-do’s back in March when it was 80 degrees and it seemed like I had months to work but I’ve trimmed that down to just the essentials.
Several years back I ran all my halyards internal and re-worked the mast wiring. So-far-so-good. Once the stick is up you can’t really do too much to fix a hurried job. God luck !

Steve,
Are you still at Windjammer? I'm going to be at Rentner's tomorrow, maybe I'll stop by if I get a chance. That means if I get the paint done and the new mast electric run.

I hope to be at the yard tomorrow. I’ll grab a picture of the fitting.
It does improve the stability of the top while in the up position. I think you find that it will be worth the effort to replace.

Do any of you Cal 27 poptop owners still have the original connection of the poptop to the mast track?
Near as I can tell from an old manual is that they had some sort of connection that slid up the track. Needless to say, my boat has been modified or it broke off at some point. Was wondering how it worked and if it would be worth making something to replace it.
Any help would be appreciated.
Paul
