Guy who called me a "crank" IS A DEVELOPER PLANT!!!

Fellow sailors, this is exactly what I'm talking about when I talk about the dirty underhanded fiendish tricks the developers are playing against the boaters in Southern California. This guy who got on my club mail site is responsible for many of the woes thousands of boaters, tens of thousands of boaters, and millions of would be boaters are suffering with. It wasn't enough this 'guy' ( unprintable expletive of your choice) or his associates and co-conspirators like him, are in on swindling us out of our World's Largest (and most expensive) Recreational Marine Park which they stole and made into a commercial yacht harbor, but the exorbitant prices boaters are saddled with, empty slips that don't fit the size of the boats in Marina del Rey, evictions on short notice, thugs vandalizing boats, like Erics, to make them look like unattended derelicts by removing mooring lines, running them over life lines and busting stanchions and leaving the ends of the lines dangling in the water. The guy has the nerve to get on my club's site, claim he's an ex member of our club, and call me a crank! Well guess what, I looked him up on Facebook, and he turns out he is an executive for Alamar Marinas, the company, or one of them, who is trying to monopolize the marina business in So. Cal. and run the smaller and medium sized boats out, gouge us, shake us down for every buck they can milk out of us. And they have their plants in the County doing their dirty work for them, claiming all the Marinas around Marina del Rey are charging these 'fair' prices. No wonder the County keeps pushing these bogus slip price analysis, which include only certain Marinas (the most over priced ones) on us to prove the big rusty pipe they are shoving in our rear isn't what it feels like it is. I'm boiling mad, maybe you all should be too. Spread the word to every boater you know. The next slip that goes is definitely going to be yours, sooner than you imagine. Jerry PS: Here is the letter he sent to the Marina del Rey Venture MacGregor Club. Dear Jon, First of all, please add me to your email list. I think I used to get your messages, but haven't lately. I have supported the efforts of small boat users of the marina in the past, and will continue to do so. I am a former member of the Venture Macgregor club, by the way. Now, let me say what almost everyone else on this list apparently will not say. This Gerald Sobel, whom I have never met to my knowledge, is a crank. He rails against the Man, insisting that the FBI should show up and arrest people for taking our slips. In my opinion, he does more harm than good to the cause of preserving Marina Del Rey for the ordinary boater of Los Angeles. Come on, is that really ever going to happen? These issues are won by rational argument, and shows of strength at council meetings, and of course, by contributions. Jerry is vocal, and right, but harmful to the cause. He makes the rest of us look ridiculous. Jerry, you are ridiculous. Ask Abbie Hoffman, he'll tell you. If the VMF fleet would like to delete me from their email list, that would be OK with me.--mitchell

Abbie..Hoffman??? Man that brings back memories and times of days gone buy....I kinda liked the hippies when they were hippies not corporate eco farmers...:) I would take that as a compliment even though I did not care for his perspectives. Stick with it Gerald. First they fight you, then they laugh at you, then you win....that's what we used to say when Linux was hot to trot. It hasn't disappeared either, rather runs the Internet, most of googles services, most banks and the most cell phones on the planet. Stick with it...! A tip if I may...the types you are up against are polished at what they do. So to out maneuver them and prove them wrong you have to out paper the paper pushers. Best of luck. /ch On Tue, Jul 3, 2012 at 1:36 AM, Gerald Sobel <so… [at] yahoo.com> wrote: > > > Fellow sailors, this is exactly what I'm talking about when I talk about > the dirty underhanded fiendish tricks the developers are playing against > the boaters in Southern California.
