Cal20 Raftup

Hey folks! Yesterday I had a visitor. I currently work aboard a 100 ton steel 85' gaff-rigged ketch that was part of the tall ship festival here in Newport, RI. I met a gentleman that toured the boat and got to talking when he disclosed the model of his sailboat. to which I replied, "You have a Cal20? Your name must be Chris?!" Turns out, I was right. Chris Barszcz, of /Wee hope III./ He offered to show me his boat so that I can make some sort of sense out of the box of hardware that came with my 20 and where it might attach. He made good on his promise yesterday when he sailed 10 miles, rafted up, let me take pics, poke around and then he took me out for a spin. It was the first real sail aside from the behemoth in many months! I even wore my stupid "I'm sailing!" smile. Thanks Chris! Mike McElhaney Engineer, /Sir Martin II/ (100-ton-gaff-rigged-ketch-made-in-Holland-for-German-Navy-cadet-sail-training-and-turne-into-private-yacht) Cal-40, /Celtic Naut/, Ca-20, /Cal-amity/ I am attaching a pic. Guess who has the better Fun::Dollar ratio? Sir Martin II and Wee Hope III

Depends on your definition of "fun". If you like looking for crew, repairing systems, paying huge dockage fees, spending hundreds to fill your fuel tank etc etc, then the guy with the big boat wins easily ;-) Paul From: Chris Campbell <cc… [at] lsnm.org> To: Cal_Boats <Ca… [at] yahoogroups.com> Sent: Tue, Jul 17, 2012 10:41 am Subject: Re: [Cal_Boats] Cal20 Raftup On 7/15/2012 10:18 AM, mike wrote: I am attaching a pic.
