2-27 rub rail
Bob Ellison2012-07-30 03:33 UTC
To try to make a long story short, during our day that started better for
swimming and ended better for sailing we were rafted to another boat letting
the kids swim and having lunch. The wind had picked up while we were tied
together and at one point, when we were probably 5 minutes from un-tying,
the rub rails contacted each other, and ours was the loser with about 2'
breaking off, right between two fenders. It is a 1980 2-27, and the rub
rail is hard white plastic that projects out about an inch to inch and a
quarter. It has a black inset. There is a metal cap at each end. Does
anyone who has something like this know who made it and if it is still
available? The photo I took is terrible and doesn't show the profile. I've
checked a few sites online but nothing looks the same.
Thanks
Bob

I have the same rub rail I have not been able to find a replacement
recently, someone got me a replacement 20 years ago. This rubrail is the
same as on the CAL 25-mark 2. I have pieces of the old one available for
dimensions or for a patch if yours is completely gone. BTW what is your hull
number.

I remember someone looking for a 2-25 rail. Don't know how that came out. Do not know the specific appearance. Here are a couple sites. Don't know if you tried them.
tacomarine.com/cat--Rub-Rail--rubrail.html
for Taco Metals or
http://www.drmarine.com/
For D&R enter rail into the little search box at upper right.
Cheers
Charlie
