Re: 30' Lippincott Sloop for sale !!

Agreed... I thought this was a group to discuss all things Cal, not a classified section for other brands of used vessels.

It is a bit interesting in that the major seller of CALs in the Chesapeake back in the late 60s and 70s was Lippincott Yachts on Kent Island. I do not know if the two places were related, but the name Lippincott is not really common. Funny you should mention that. One of the old salts we sail against on Wed night was cleaning out a junk drawer and found a Cal 39 brochure for my Cal with Lippincott's card stapled to it and gave it to me after the race the other night. Hi, Paul. Also worth noting that, unlike many, many outfits in the marine business, Lippincott’s is still operating. I also have some old brochures with Lippincott’s stamped on them. Hang on to the card and brochure for the CAL museum. Just as I suspected, the Lippincott is really a Cal 30. Don't let the steam engine, side wheels, gaff rig and square sail on the foremast fool yah. I'd like nothing more than something like that, with a big brass bell and a deep throated steam whistle. OK, so it's not a Cal. Designed by Skip Lippencott it's a neat looking IOR style boat, produced between 1980 and 1986, according to sailboatdata.com.
