Re: [Cal_Boats] LED running light modification

I hate to say it, but I went to West Marine and bought them.
I am very satisfied. I used them for the Ensenada Race. With Tacktics and a chart plotter running. My battery stayed up all night.

While sailing along in a light breeze last night (beating a Catalina 25
with a genoa in my Cal 20 with working jib), I was thinking about LED
running lights. That's because it's getting late in the season and dark
comes earlier now.
Both my Cal 20 and the other boat, the 1961 Seafarer, use standard
bayonet-base incandescent bulbs in their running lights. The other
boat, at least, and maybe the Cal, require a tall bulb shape to get the
filament into the right location. It would be very nice to replace all
the incandescents with LEDs. That would require getting an LED bulb
with just the right exposure of the lighting elements to fit the running
light fixture.
So it would probably be easiest to send off the light fixtures to the
LED supplier to get the right configuration. Does anybody have good
experience with companies that might do this?

Try Batteries Plus, They have allot of different types on hand or can get them in about same cost maybe cheaper than West Marine
