Do you have lifelines tied to the shroud like I do? I have an antenna mounted on my pulpit and didn't think things through to realize I was creating a path for nearly causing rig failure. I was racing with this upper shroud the day before this picture was taken. [image: Inline image 1] http://l-36.com/antenna_ground.php Allen

Does anyone have experience using Amsteel for lifelines; specifically chafe as it goes through stanchions? Cockpit Drain Hose Question

Robert Libbert2012-09-18 18:48 UTC
I noticed there was water in the bilge after the last rain so I went looking for the source. I found that the port cockpit bench drain hose, which usually attaches to the transom drain opening, is disconnected. I can just barely see it, let alone get to it to reattach. Any suggestions, other than hiring a very handy, very small child? Rob

Mike, A friend of mine uses Amsteel for his lifelines on a Catalina 36. I think it's been on his boat for 3+ years without problems. My mostly non sailing wife looked at my forestay on Rambler Cal 20 1114 and said " this does not look good" Don't worry it's ok was my reply. Two weeks later I heard a bang 1.5 minutes into a Cityfront race. $1500 and a lot of labor later Rambler had a new mast. Yes, the forestay had parted. Rambler won he next race by more than 5 minutes with a dock tuned rig. She(My Wife, Mao) never told me--- I told you so! She was Dai We (Captain) in the Army Of South Viet Namin 1973- 1975. I defer to her. I most always will. Lead, follow, or get the hell out of the way. WTF, Over!
