NY area: Atomic 4 help/parts needed
Alfred Poor2012-09-24 17:35 UTC
Folks, allow me to introduce John Downing (jd… [at] gmail.com). He just
purchased a Tartan 34C (like our Jambalaya) and is getting it ready for the
delivery trip from New York to North Carolina. He's on a budget and on a
schedule. And he has discovered that he has some woes with the Atomic 4:
"Does anyone have a spare, good A4 head they could part with? We will be
driving up I-95 Thursday night, arriving New Rochelle Friday morning.
Since there's a fair chance the block may also be toast, we might ultimately
need a complete running engine. Whatever you have that might
help us solve this problem would be greatly appreciated. If you know of any
marine service shops that carry A4 parts, that would be a big help,
too. If you live in the area and have mechanical skills, we can always use
good advice and another pair of brain cells."
I've spoken with John on the phone, and he seems to be a good guy with a
bunch of boat experience already.
I know that there are a bunch of Atomic 4 experts here on this list, and
I'm connecting John with the list in hopes that some of you might have some
information that could help him out. (I would recommend a complete
replacement from Joe DeMers, but I don't think that fits either his schedule
or budget at this point.) So if anyone along the I-95 corridor or in the NYC
area can offer some help, I'm sure he'd appreciate it.
Fair winds,
Alfred Poor

I do have some A4 parts in stock, such as points, coil, distributor, raw
water pump, rebuild kit for same, some gaskets, starters, alternators,
flywheel, exhaust / intake manifold, pistons, rods, crank, transmission
parts, carbs, etc.

Moyer Marine is the ultimate Atomic 4 source. Has everything from a bolt to
an engine. Very nice people, very helpful, great web site.
Bought a bunch of stuff from them, never a problem.
