Surveyor Reference request

chris1232012-10-30 17:24 UTC
Greets: Hope all of you in the Chesapeake and Delaware did OK. Have a buddy stuck in Norfolk on the hook. Blew the front end (bow sprit) off his Bayfield 32 and lost one anchor in the process, snapped the rode. Second anchor on chain and CQR held the night and he made it through the worst. Next step for him is to get his engine repaired which seems to be a fuel related matter as he lost in coming down the Jersey Coastline last week. Bunch of us been running support via sms and he's all squared away in terms of contact numbers etc once everything settles down. Interesting lad, from New Jersey, loves to solo in his B-32 and check this, is a spry 74. If anyone is in that area and floating Im sure he'd appreciate a short visit. Biggest complaint was he ran out of brandy...:) Vessel name is svSparrow a Bayfield 32. A resupply would be a real treat. Then again he's got a dink and motor so will probably be the first item on the shopping list. Hope I have those balls and experience when I'm that age. Reason for the post however is I have a request from a listee off another list for a reputable surveyor who can inspect a boat in Baltimore. Was wondering if anyone has any contacts or preferably a recommendation or reference. Kind and best regards -- /ch

Chris, I just rode it out at the Portsmouth (Ocean Marina ) aboard 85' gaff rigged ketch I work aboard. I may be able to deliver a bottle of brandy if he's anchored near hospital point. Can you send me contact info off-list? I'm transient also so it may be best I can do but will see what I can do to get him resecured and safe. Sorry can't advise on surveyor... Cheers! I really dont think he's going anywhere fast. The fuel system is damaged, we got it running however with a direct line to a can of fuel thanks to another friend. The bow sprit is firewood, but the chain seems to be holding the CQR in place. Winds are down, so worst is over. The cape and leotards....Im sure he will be surprised...I think at this point if you were butt naked he would be pleased to see you..:) /ch On Tue, Oct 30, 2012 at 2:17 PM, Michael McElhaney <mi… [at] wahini.org> wrote: > > > no problem. just give me time to put on my cape and leotards... > > > chris123 <ch… [at] gmail.com> wrote: >> >> coordinates and cell phone contact info sent to wahini.org >> >> Many thanks for even offering.
