Re: window glass
When we replaced the fixed lights on our Cal 29 (using plastic windows that
we got from Mark Plastics) they crazed almost immediately, much to my
disappointment. I later read that volatile organic solvents can cause this.
We were practically bathing the boat in acetone because we were doing a
fairly major refit, and I suspect that may have played a role in the
crazing. So my advice is that if you're using plastic panes instead of
glass, leave this as one of the final projects. If that's not practical,
maybe you could seal the surface somehow to protect them.
