Re: Departed Members [ was Cal 27 rub rail cap]
This seems as good a season as any to remember members who have set sail for
the sunset. We were fortunate to have Roger Jones sail with us on our Cal 29
in the Good Old Boat Regatta in Annapolis one year. And we were among the
many beneficiaries of his generosity. (For those who may not know it, Roger
was the source for the Cal 29 beam blueprints that so many of us have used
over the years.)
And while we're at it, let's raise another glass in memory of Brian
Cleverly, who we lost when he was on the verge of going "walk-about" on the
Pacific. There's hardly a member on this list who has not benefited from his
sage and hard-earned advice, if not directly then passed along by those of
us who knew him.
These were two skippers who loved boats, and loved Cals especially. They are
missed, but their gifts continue to make us happier sailors.
Best wishes to all,
Alfred Poor
