Hi, John. I looked up the Beaver Lake Sail Club, and Lo and Behold, a CAL 25 right in the middle of the photo on the web.
Looks like you have numerous grounding opportunities on the lake.
The reason I asked your location was that I know an outfit in Massachusetts that has the gunnel rubber - Rudy Nickerson at D&R Marine.

Been buying rub rails for CAL 25s there for many years. The stuff they have does not chalk up. Install on a warm day. Might also want some screws through the deck-hull lip (bottom to top) around the bow area.
Cheers

Chris, Thanks for the encouragement. Jon is my son, we bought the boat in October and hauled it out Dec 1. We have it in my workplace heated shop. Your reply is exactly how we feel. By the way our boat is hull #7, I haven't seen a lower number on the site. My main concern is the compression post. It appears that a previous owner has tighten the s*** out of the shrouds. The area that the post sits on next to the sink is depressed about ¼ inch. It doesn't look like the support under the cabinet goes all the way to the keel. Any suggestions would be appreciated. The boat is located at the Beaver Lake Sail Club on Beaver Lake, Northwest Arkansas.

Charlie, You are correct, I will go look at that the next time I am at the
club. You are correct about grounding opportunities, however I actually
walked across the lake in 1967 before it was filled. I know most all shallow
spots or at least where not to go. BLSC is fairly close to the dam and water
depth in the main channel is 250'+- deep. I have been told if you can sail
on Beaver you can sail anywhere. You guys are great in your advice,
expertise, and knowledge. My son and I are excited about getting our boat
back in the water.

I also purchased a rub rail from D&R while a "well-mate" bought one from Seals Spars. The two offer different materials with different characteristics. I noticed the one from seals is getting chalky after a few years, while mine may have slightly yellowed. I prefer the non-chalky rail.

George,
I bought mine from D&R also, maybe(?) 8 years ago, no chalk, but it was a bear to install! The other thing is that our boats are out of the sun in the off-season, so maybe that has something to do with it.

Hey, Charlie, is this the same stuff they used for rubrail on the Cal 20?
I got tired of getting white stuff all over me from my chalking rubrail
and painted it with a vinyl lobster buoy paint from Hamilton Marine.
Cleaned it up first with solvents and light sanding. The stuff doesn't
level well so it's not glossy but it passes a 15-foot test. Tenacity or
adhesion isn't total, and if the rub rail rubs too hard the stuff will
peel, but it kept the white chalk off me all summer. I'll repair
damaged areas in the spring.
But at some point it might be wise to replace the old original rubrail.
