Yaqnmar Cylinder liners

I'm rebuilding a yanmar 2qm15 and would like to know what to use to seal the bottom of the cylinder liners yanmar work shop manual shows a type of paint. Any ideas? Permatex says to use Perma Sheild Some say grease to swell the o-rings but what kind? Thanks
