Re: [Cal_Boats] A Conundrum

Ask Boeing ;-)
As a baby shower gift 5 yrs ago we got a carbon monoxide/smoke detector for
the house but since we don't have anything that burns fuel in our house I
took it to the boat. Well, I was working down in the lazerette and was
heating my lunch up in the oven which I had not used yet and apparently was a
bit dusty. Unbeknownst to me this alarm did not have a buzzer or typical
alarm but had a recorded voice. So here I am on my knees messing with
something down there when I hear "FIRE!! GET OUT!! FIRE!! GET OUT!! Don't
know the last time I was that acrobatic and nimble LOL. I came flying out of
that lazerette like I was on a trampoline only to find that the dust in
the oven was causing some smoke . .. WHEW!!

Hi, All. I recently heard an ad for smoke detectors with permanently
embedded lithium batteries. Supposed to last 10 years, then you throw the whole
thing away. Might have boat applications (mandatory sailing content).
I have a question. If the lithium battery in the smoke detector catches
fire, will the device detect it?
